99 Flares 99 Flares ×

As a matter of fact, it can be taxing to follow the current practices for optimizing your sites for good rankings online due to the yearly updates search engines make to their ranking equations and criteria. These days, an seo expert is certainly burdened to find out more and more white-hat practices to be on the right track while optimizing a site. Similarly, she or he is also struggling to get answers to different questions regarding SEO, especially after Google Panda and Penguin updates.

Common SEO Mistakes

Apart from these difficulties, there is one more factor that adds to the complexity of SEO. This is none other than making silly mistakes or blunders that all seo experts must avoid. Here are these blunders that you, too, as an seo expert may be making but are not realizing!

Top 4 Killing SEO Blunders:

#1. Optimizing a Flash Site without HTML Version

Building a site in Flash is truly enticing for the probable target audience or online visitors. This is because the visitors love to see visuals, illustrations, and animations instead of text and paragraphs. But a search engine cannot do so, and therefore, hate Flash sites. So, a Flash site is appealing to the visitors, not to the search engines. Therefore, if you still want to optimize a Flash-based site, do offer an html version so that search engines can read and index it.

#2. Purchasing Links

Including backlinks is certainly one of the fundamental strategies for successful SEO. Because it is very difficult to get links, several SEO experts tend to buy links. But did you know that this way of having links can be detrimental to SEO? This is because nowadays, the search engines are striving hard to detect such links and throw them out forever. In fact, there is a dedicated team of Google in Asia whose aim is to identify these brought links and wane them. So, take some extra efforts to search on the Internet on how to include the links without purchasing them.

#3. Giving More Importance to Meta Tags

There was a time when meta keywords were given due importance by the search engines to rank a site. However, today, it has become a historical fact! Yes, Google and other search engines are no longer depending on these tags to rank the site. But still, you can have your meta keywords and descriptions, as a few search engines tend to show this information as a description of your site on their SERPs or Search Engine Result Pages.

#4. Finding Keywords in AdWords with ‘Broad’ Match Type

Common SEO experts! It’s high time to get specific! While using the ‘Broad’ match type, what you do not realize is that the number of searches the result shows is often inflated! Broad really means broad here; it includes all types of related phrases that can be matched to the specified search term. But when to switch to the ‘Exact’ match type, the tool considers the search volume for only the specified search term, which then drastically brings down the search count number shown in the columns. So, it is better to be with Exact!
